About Centre of English Studies

Founded in 1979, CES has over 30 years' experience teaching the English language to students from across the globe. In 2007 CES was awarded the ‘Star English Language School in Europe’ with four centres or less and we were shortlisted for the same award every year between 2008 – 2011. CES is the only school to have been nominated for this award for 5 consecutive years! CES is recognised and accredited by the British Council in England and ACELS (the Irish Department of Education) in Ireland. CES Ireland is also a founding member of Marketing English in Ireland (MEI).CES is also proud to have a number of our year-round schools as full EAQUALS members. CES Dublin is also an official IELTS Test Centre and a PEARSON test centre. CES Leeds and Harrogate is an official IELTS Test Centre. All our schools in England are full members of English UK.

What is CELTA?

The CELTA course gives you the essential skills and knowledge you need to teach English to adults and older teenagers. You get hands-on teaching practice and observation of experienced teachers, applying your learning in the classroom with English language learners. CELTA courses are run by approved centres, based on specifications produced by Cambridge Assessment English. All courses have a minimum of 120 contact hours.

Further Professional Development

Courses at CES are eligible for Erasmus+ funding under Key Action 1.

We offer both one week and two week courses. Our courses are:

Methodology and Approaches to English Language Teaching (1 week)

Methodology and Language Development for English Language Teachers ( 2 weeks)

Language Development for Teachers (1 and 2 week courses)

Blended Learning (1 week and 2 week courses)

CLIL – Content and Language Integrated Learning (1 and 2 week courses)
